- Organise and prioritise – know what you have to do; the priority of each task; and the due date for each task. You may want to write a list of tasks and assign a priority of 1 (urgent), 2 (not-urgent) and 3 (when time permits).
- Stop multi-tasking and batch process instead – Do you feel like you are running around in circles and cannot get all your tasks completed? Divide all your tasks into groups of similar activities and complete each group depending on their priority.
- Schedule your time – If you have important tasks that you keep putting off or have meetings, schedule them in your calendar so that they are completed.
- Avoid distractions – If certain people distract you or you like to play on your phone, avoid those people and put your phone away.
- Manage interruptions – If people interrupt you; write down their concern and address it at a convenient time.
- Complete your projects – Finish the projects that you start to keep you motivated and show others that you can follow through with your ideas.
- Set Milestones and Goals – Set milestones for your big projects and break them down into smaller sections so that you can complete them. Goals are also important to ensure that you complete your tasks. Research has consistently shown that writing down goals significantly increases the odds they will be achieved.
