How do you Improve Team Performance?

The following strategies may assist you to improve performance in your team:

  1. Support innovation – encourage the use of new methods, tools and strategies to get to the end result.
  2. Support leadership – allow the leaders to develop goals and priorities for their teams that support the project.
  3. Hire the right people – ask the right questions and ensure that you get the best people for the job that have a desire to learn and interact effectively with team members.
  4. Provide skill development – if team members share an interest in each other’s tasks, share them between team members to provide them with opportunities to learn new skills.
  5. Stream-line processes – ensure processes are not extreme and prohibitive. Keep processes as simple as possible so that they can be followed.
  6. Build commitment – use your company’s vision and values to build commitment in team members. Ensure they understand the goals of the business and how they can contribute to those goals.
  7. Get team members involved in sharing resources – they are at the ground level of the project and know what is required to get the job done.
